Ideal for sensory integration and movement therapy activities, each one of these gorgeous, slightly weighted, hand-made, all-wool felted balls are made by a hard-working crafter in the mid-West, to my specifications.
Perfect for both young children and adults, each ball warms to the touch of the human hand, and becomes a warming toy that encourages the safe play of giving and receiving a ball without fear. For the adult, handling a wool ball can release tension in the hand from over-use of keyboards and driving a car, and can prepare a parent for sensitive touching games. For those recovering from illness or injury, the wool ball can help encourage warmth and healing activity of the hands. For the elderly, handling a wool ball (and using our Agile Aging techniques) can help relieve the pain of arthritis and increase hand and arm mobility.
Each ball is about 3.5″ in diameter, and is washable and dryable when placed into the toe of an old sock and put through the wash cycle. When not in use, my crafter recommends storage in a plastic bag or box to discourage moths, perhaps with a bit of lavender oil. I, however, have kept some balls in a basket for years without any bother at all.
